An inn where you wait for the world's most beautiful sunset.

What awaits you here
is not always a beautiful sunset.

Some days, it hides behind the clouds.
Some days, it fades softly into dusk.

And a few days each year,
the sky offers a sunset that takes your breath away.

That is why people return.

Yunami is not a place where staying is the purpose.
It is a place where waiting for the sunset is the purpose.

Facing the calm waters of the Seto Inland Sea,
you settle into a George Nakashima chair, quietly placed.

There are no clocks here.

Not time, but the shifting colors of the sky,
the scent of the tide,
and the sound of the waves
gently bring the day to a close.

You may share a few words with someone.
Or say nothing at all.
Simply wait for the sunset before you.

A day spent this way
brings back something forgotten in busy everyday life —
the luxury of doing nothing.

No sunset ever shows the same face twice.
That is why there is a view
that can only be seen today.

You may encounter the most beautiful sunset in the world.
Or you may not.

Even that chance
becomes part of the beauty of this place.

This is an inn for facing the sunset.

Six Scenes While Waiting for the Sunset
At Yunami, time is not for doing something.
It is for waiting for the sunset.

Resting in a George Nakashima chair,
gazing at the sea as the sky slowly changes color —

that quiet hour is graced by six scenes
this land offers.
What Yunami holds dear is not the pleasing of the senses, but quieting the heart to face the one sunset that belongs to today.
Some days bring the most beautiful sunset in the world. Some days, it hides behind the clouds.
Even that chance becomes a memory of your journey here.

View

The Seto Inland Sea fills the window.

Beyond the calm horizon, sky and sea change their expression with each passing moment. No two sunsets are ever the same; only that day's encounter stays in your heart.

Sound

Waves rolling in and drawing back.

The whisper of trees swaying in the wind. In the stillness, you hear sounds only nature can play.

Wood

George Nakashima chairs.

The beams and pillars that have held this hundred-year-old house. A sauna of natural wood. Wrapped in the warmth of wood, the heart slowly unwinds.

Breeze

A gentle sea breeze from the Seto Inland Sea.

Carrying the scent of the ocean, it drifts through the windows, quietly bringing the changing seasons.

Taste

Seasonal gifts of the Seto Inland Sea and its land.

Flavors of that day, that season alone — savored with the evening sky.

Bath

An open-air bath infused with the gifts of the sea.

Nigari born of Nio’s sea floats in the bath, warming the body deeply from within. Rich in magnesium, the water gently moisturizes the skin and invites restful sleep.
※We use nigari flakes “umiral” produced in Nio.

Rooms
A space prepared for welcoming the sunset.

Keeping the character of this hundred-year-old kominka,
the house has been reborn as a serene space in black and white.

Large windows spanning the western wall
frame the Seto Inland Sea and the evening sky like a single painting.

No doors interrupt the view from living room to bedroom,
so wherever you are, you feel the sky slowly changing.

And there are no clocks in this inn.

Not the passing of time,
but the shifting light and the evening sky
quietly tell you the day is drawing to a close.
Cuisine
The seasons of Setouchi, with the evening sky.

The cuisine at Yunami is meant to let you taste,
just as they are, the seasonal gifts
of this land's rich sea and soil.

Hotpot and BBQ with seafood landed at local ports,
and tai-meshi — sea bream rice — a dish of the Seto Inland Sea.

Ingredients that change with the seasons,
like the sunset that is never the same,
offer an encounter found only on that day.

A dish savored as the sun sinks into the sea
will make the memory of your journey
deeper, and richer still.

Many places have been popular with SNS in the western part of Kagawa prefecture. We recommend some emotional sightseeing spots you can go to from “Yunami”.
Takaya shrine has a somewhat unusual history. This is because it was originally located on the mountaintop, but moved to the foot of the mountain, and then returned to its current location on the mountaintop. The shrine stands on the peak of the 404m Mt.Inazumi, from where we can overlook the coastal city of Kanonji. We can see Seto Sea, Ariake Beach, and Mt.Ishizuchi when it's a sunny day. When you jump up in front of the Torii gate, you can take unique photos.
The sculpture is a coin-shaped monument modeled directly out of the white sand. It is said that the local people completed the currency sand sculpture in just one night in 1633 to welcome the lord. It is said that anyone who watches the sculpture will live a long, healthy life and not be troubled by money worries. The size is 112m from east to west, 90m from north to south, and an ellipse with a circumference of 345m. The sheer scale of the artwork becomes clear from the peak’s elevated vista point in nearby Mt. Kotohiki. We recommend that you go there to watch the sculpture.
The beach is a kilometer-long beach in Mitoyo city. There are many people at the beach to swim every summer. When low tide and the sunset coincide, you can take photos like salt flats in Bolivia. The beach has been popular on SNS and selected as the best sunset spot in Japan.

“Yunami” is a hotel that is a renovated Mr.Shioda’s old private house built a century ago. You will be able to relax when you come to “Yunami”. The house has a memory of people and the neighbor’s relationship from the old time. The outside appearance is based on black and white to match nature. It’s like a hidden house and is a quiet hotel surrounded by trees that change the color of leaves by the seasons.
